Installing the Adobe Illustrator Middle East Version: A Complete Guide
Adobe Illustrator is the industry standard for vector graphics, but standard versions lack critical support for right-to-left (RTL) text, Arabic/Persian script shaping, and Kashida (tatweel) —the character elongation used for text justification in Arabic typography. The Middle East (ME) version (also called the MENA version) bridges this gap, offering native support for these linguistic and typographic features.

The "Standalone" Installer: For Legacy CS6 Users
Many print shops in Dubai, Riyadh, and Cairo still use Adobe Illustrator CS6 (the last perpetual license version). For these users, you cannot simply toggle a setting. adobe illustrator middle east version install
To install the legacy Middle East version of CS6:
- You must purchase a CS6 Middle Eastern license (available via third-party resellers like Digital River or regional distributors like iTi Communications).
- The installer is a physical DVD or an ISO file labeled "Adobe Illustrator CS6 ME."
- Critical Note: Do not install this on macOS Catalina or newer (Apple killed 32-bit support). It requires Windows 10 or macOS Mojave (10.14) or older.

Step 1: Prerequisites

- Creative Cloud Desktop App: You must have the Adobe Creative Cloud application installed and signed in.
- Uninstall Existing Version (Recommended): While you can have multiple versions installed (e.g., v27 and v28), it is generally recommended to uninstall the standard version of Illustrator before installing the specific ME version to avoid confusion.
Error 3: Installer Crashes at 78%
Cause: Corrupt font cache or conflict with non-unicode fonts.
Fix:
- On Windows: Clear
C:\Windows\Fonts cache and run sfc /scannow.
- On macOS: Restart in Safe Mode, then reinstall.
Error 4: Missing Kashida or Diacritic Features
Cause: You are using a Type 1 or older OpenType font without ME support.
Fix: Use modern Arabic fonts like Adobe Arabic, Myriad Arabic, or any font with "Arabic" in the OpenType table. You must purchase a CS6 Middle Eastern license
The Shift: Creative Cloud (CC) 2017 to Present
In 2017, Adobe made a quiet but monumental shift. Instead of selling two separate binaries, Adobe baked the Middle Eastern and North African (MEA) text engine into the global version of Illustrator CC.
The Good News: If you subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud today, you do not need a special installer. The standard Illustrator download includes the "World-Ready Composer."
The Bad News: It is not enabled by default. You must turn it on.
