Apharan Season 2

Title: Apharan Season 2: The Devil’s Due

Logline: A disgraced, suspended cop gets pulled back into a vortex of blood money and political deceit when he realizes that the one who got away has now become the hunter.

Part 1: The Ghost of Haldwani

Rudra Srivastava, once a feared Senior Inspector at the Haldwani Police Station, now spends his days in a rented dump behind a tobacco shop. It has been two years since the disastrous kidnapping of the young heiress, Nivedita "Nidhi" Thakur. He lost his badge, his wife left him, and his reputation was smeared across every news channel as the "Corrupt Cop who became a Kidnapper."

But Rudra is not a man who fades away. He simmers.

He survives on cheap whiskey and the occasional odd job as a “fixer” for small-time criminals. His only anchor is his teenage son, Yash, who lives with Rudra’s estranged wife, Meera. Meera has moved on, engaged to a wealthy NRI doctor. Rudra is a ghost in his own life.

One night, he gets a call from an unknown number. The voice is muffled, electronic.

“Inspector Srivastava. Do you remember the smell of the Thakur mansion? The jasmine, the sandalwood… and the blood?”

Rudra freezes. The voice continues.

“Your son is at the Galaxy Mall, food court, third table from the left. Go see him. Then call me back.”

Rudra rushes to the mall. Yash is fine, laughing with friends. Rudra exhales. But when he returns to his car, he finds a photograph on the passenger seat: a picture of his ex-wife Meera, taken through her living room window that very evening. The message is clear: Your world is my hostage.

Part 2: The Devil’s Blueprint

He calls the number back. The voice reveals itself: Madhav Thakur, Nidhi’s father. The industrialist whom Rudra had tried to extort two years ago. But wait—Madhav Thakur is supposed to be in a Swiss clinic, paralyzed from a stroke. Or so the world believes.

“You took my daughter, Rudra,” Madhav’s voice crackles. “You drugged her, hid her in a cellar, and demanded thirty crores. You thought you were the predator. But I watched you. I studied you. And I realized—you are not a wolf. You are a tool.”

Madhav reveals the truth: The stroke was a ruse. He has spent two years and fifty crores to build an intricate network—hackers, assassins, corrupt ministers, and a private army of mercenaries. His goal isn’t revenge on Rudra. His goal is the Chief Ministership of Uttarakhand.

“There is a man,” Madhav says. “Chief Minister Om Singh Rawat. He has a vault in his Dehradun farmhouse. Inside is a hard drive with the financial records of every politician, judge, and builder in the state. I want that hard drive. You will steal it for me.”

“Why me?” Rudra asks.

“Because you are expendable. Because you are desperate. And because if you refuse, I will make a call that will send your son to a juvenile home for a crime he didn’t commit. I’ve already planted the evidence. Heroin in his backpack. His fingerprints on a stolen bike. Say no, Rudra. I dare you.”

Part 3: The Unwilling Puppet

Rudra has no choice. He is thrust into a high-stakes heist. Madhav provides a team: Riya, a cold, beautiful hacker with a death wish; Fateh, a massive Punjabi mercenary who never speaks; and Dr. Arora, a disgraced forensic expert who fakes deaths for a living. Apharan Season 2

The plan is insane: Infiltrate the CM’s heavily guarded farmhouse during a lavish Diwali party. Rudra is to pose as a senior police liaison. But nothing goes right.

On the night of the heist, Rudra discovers the farmhouse is a fortress. As he cracks the biometric vault, he finds not one hard drive, but two. He grabs both. As he turns, he comes face-to-face with Ragini Rawat, the CM’s daughter—a sharp, idealistic lawyer who once had a one-night stand with Rudra years ago.

“You?” she whispers, her eyes wide. Before she can scream, Fateh knocks her unconscious.

Rudra refuses to kill her. He drags her out instead. Now, the heist has become a kidnapping—again. History is repeating itself.

Part 4: The Unraveling

Ragini wakes up in a disused factory. She is not afraid. She looks at Rudra with disgust and pity.

“You’re a cliché, Rudra,” she says. “A broken cop who thinks crime is the only language he speaks. My father is not your enemy. Madhav Thakur is.”

She reveals the secret: The second hard drive contains proof that Madhav Thakur funded a terror attack three years ago to crash real estate prices and buy up land for a smart city project. The first hard drive is just political corruption. The second is high treason.

Rudra is stunned. He was a pawn in a war between two monsters: CM Rawat, a corrupt tyrant, and Madhav Thakur, a secret terrorist financier.

Meanwhile, Riya, the hacker, betrays the team. She was always Madhav’s watchdog. She locks Rudra and Ragini inside a cold storage unit. The temperature drops to -20°C. As Rudra huddles with Ragini to keep warm, she whispers, “The only way out is to play them against each other. Give my father the second drive. Give Madhav the first. Watch them destroy each other.”

Part 5: The Con Within The Con

Rudra escapes using a forgotten ventilation shaft (a trick from his training days). He confronts Madhav Thakur not with violence, but with a proposal.

“I have both drives,” Rudra says, standing in Madhav’s penthouse. “I’ll give you the first—the political dirt. That makes you CM. But I’m giving the second drive—the terror funding proof—to a journalist. The moment you try to kill me or my family, that journalist releases it. You will hang.”

Madhav laughs. “You think you have leverage?”

Rudra plays his final card. He has secretly copied the second drive onto a dead man’s switch—a live stream connected to his heartbeat. He shows Madhav a smartwatch. “My heart stops, the data goes to the CBI, the army, and five news channels.”

For the first time, Madhav Thakur’s smile falters.

But Rudra isn’t done. He invites CM Rawat to a neutral location—a crowded railway station. There, in front of hundreds of commuters, he broadcasts a live audio feed to both Madhav and Rawat’s phones.

“Gentlemen,” Rudra says, pulling out two memory cards. “You are both criminals. One is a thief. One is a traitor. I am giving both of you a choice. Let my family go. Give me a clean slate. Or I destroy both of you simultaneously.”

Part 6: The Fallout

The climax is a three-way standoff. Madhav’s snipers. Rawat’s commandos. And Rudra, standing in the middle with a smile.

Ragini Rawat, now free, gives a press conference revealing her father’s corruption but not the terror funding (to save face for the state). CM Rawat resigns. Madhav Thakur, exposed as a manipulator, is arrested by the CBI for conspiracy—but the terror funding proof is mysteriously “lost” in transit (a deal Rudra made with a federal agent to spare his family).

Rudra gets his clean slate. His suspension is revoked. He is reinstated as an inspector—but in a dead-end desk job in a remote district.

In the final scene, Rudra sits alone on a railway platform, a bottle in his hand. His son Yash calls him. “Dad, Mom says you can come to the wedding if you want. But she says don’t bring trouble.”

Rudra laughs bitterly. He looks at his reflection in the train window. The scars are still there. The thirst for chaos is still there.

His phone buzzes. A text from an unknown number:

“Good game, Inspector. But remember—you used a dead man’s switch. One day, your heart will really stop. And on that day, I’ll be waiting to collect my debt.”

Rudra crushes the phone under his heel. The train departs. He lights a cigarette, the smoke curling into the monsoon sky.

He is free. But freedom, for a man like Rudra Srivastava, is just another cage.

END OF SEASON TWO.

Post-credits scene: A hospital room. An old man—the real mastermind behind Madhav Thakur’s network—opens his eyes. He whispers into a phone: “Bring me Rudra Srivastava. Alive. I want to see the look on his face when he learns who truly owns him.”
