2018 Language Pack Work: Autocad
Technical Overview: AutoCAD 2018 Language Packs
Feature Profile: AutoCAD 2018 Language Pack
Switching the AutoCAD UI language
- After installing a language pack, AutoCAD’s executable can be launched with the language-specific shortcut created by the installer (e.g., “AutoCAD 2018 - Français”).
- Alternatively, modify the AutoCAD shortcut’s target to include the /language argument:
- Example:
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2018\acad.exe" /language fr-FR - Replace fr-FR with the locale code for the language pack (e.g., de-DE, es-ES, ru-RU).
- Example:
- On some systems, the installer creates separate Start Menu shortcuts for each installed language; use those.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- Mixed Language UI: If parts of the interface remain in English, the language pack may not have installed correctly to the target directory. Re-run the installer and verify the path.
- "Product Not Found" Error: The language pack will fail to install if it cannot detect the base AutoCAD 2018 installation. Ensure the base software is not a "Lite" or specialized variant unless the language pack specifically supports it.
- Update Compatibility: If you apply an AutoCAD Service Pack (Update), you may need to reinstall the Language Pack to ensure the updated features are translated.
System Requirements & Installation
To successfully install the AutoCAD 2018 Language Pack, the host system must meet the following prerequisites:
- Base Software: A licensed installation of AutoCAD 2018 (English version is typically recommended as the base, though the pack can often overlay other base languages).
- Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit), Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
- Architecture: 64-bit only (AutoCAD 2018 discontinued 32-bit support).
- Disk Space: Approximately 200–500 MB free space (varies by language).
Switching the Interface
After installation, the language pack does not automatically change the UI. You must switch it manually: autocad 2018 language pack
