8. Spot Colors & Trapping
- Spot color handling:
- Preserve spot separations if using specialty inks or varnishes.
- Convert to CMYK only when spot inks are not available; use approved spot-to-process recipes.
- Trapping:
- Prefer automatic trapping with manual overrides for critical areas (fine text, thin strokes).
- Set trap tolerance and choke/overprint rules per substrate characteristics.
6. Advanced Color Management
- Device Link Profiles: Use when predictable color transforms are needed across devices; reduces gamut mapping surprises.
- Black Point Compensation: Enable for smoother shadow mapping during conversions when necessary.
- GCR/UCR Settings: Adjust to control black generation—higher GCR can improve stability on some presses.
- Proofing: Use color verification with measurement data (Delta E targets). Maintain an SPC log for press runs.

3. The Media Manager (Right Panel)
Stores all your ICC profiles, media thickness, vacuum settings, and pass configurations. Key tabs:
- Parameters: Page size, margins, heaters (for eco-solvent/latex).
- Color: Input/Output ICC profiles.
- Screening: Halftone type (Error Diffusion, FM screening).
- Quality: Resolution (e.g., 720x720, 1440x1440) and passes.
Step 2: Nesting (Layout Optimization)

- Automatic Nesting: Click the Nesting icon. The software calculates the best fit for all images in the queue based on the media width.
- Manual Nesting: Drag and drop image tiles within the Composer workspace to arrange them manually.
- Step & Repeat: Use this function to duplicate a single image multiple times automatically.
