We’re pleased to announce the release of the Conquerors 2.1 Fix update. This patch focuses on critical bug fixes, balance adjustments, and performance improvements based on your feedback.
2. Multiplayer Desync (Sync Error) Every Match
You’re 20 minutes into a castle-age push, and suddenly “Game synchronization failed.” Infuriating. conquerors 2.1 fix
Fix:
- Ensure all players are on the exact same version (check the lobby screen for version numbers).
- Disable any mods or unofficial data sets (like custom civs or terrain mods).
- Lower your graphics resolution to 1280×720 or lower – believe it or not, resolution mismatches can trigger desyncs in 2.1.

- Missing DLL: place required DLL in game folder or system32/SysWOW64 as instructed by error; better: reinstall redistributables.
3. Lag or Stuttering (Even on Good PCs)
Conquerors 2.1 runs on a 20+ year-old engine. Modern hardware often makes it worse because of how CPU timing works.

- Go to Task Manager → Details → right-click
age2_x1.exe→ Set affinity → uncheck “CPU 0” (leave only cores 1, 2, 3). - In-game, turn off “3D Water” and “Animated Fog” (these are known FPS killers in 2.1).
- Force VSync off in your GPU control panel (NVIDIA/AMD).
