Download ((full)) Nkit 1.4 Wii Partitions «SIMPLE — EDITION»
⚠️ Important Disclaimer
NKit 1.4 is considered outdated software. The developers have released NKit 2.0 (often packaged as part of NKit Lite), which fixes many bugs present in 1.4, specifically regarding Wii partition handling and GameCube integrity.
- Recommendation: If you are archiving games, use NKit 2.0 / NKit Lite.
- Note for this guide: If you specifically need 1.4 for legacy compatibility, follow the steps below.
Convert ISO to Nkit (lossless, removes only update partition)
NKit.exe Convert "game.iso" "game.nkit"
This keeps game partition intact, strips update partition (saves ~200MB).
Step 3: Using NKit 1.4 to Process Wii Partitions
-
Open the Tool:
- Navigate to the extracted folder.
- Run
NKit.exe.
- Note: NKit requires .NET Framework (usually 4.7.2 or higher). If it crashes on startup, install the latest .NET Desktop Runtime.
-
Select the Format:
- At the top of the window, locate the Format dropdown.
- Select NKit (to convert ISO to NKit) or ISO (to recover NKit back to ISO).
- Ensure the Region and Console settings match your needs (usually Auto-Detect works best).
-
Load your Wii ISO:
- Click the Source button (or drag and drop your Wii ISO into the window).
- NKit 1.4 will analyze the partitions. You will see a log window showing it reading the "Game Partition" and "Update Partition."
-
Process the File:
- Click Convert (or "Process").
- NKit will begin scrubbing the partitions. It converts the raw Wii data into the compressed NKit format.
Nkit vs. Raw ISO vs. WBFS
- Raw ISO (4.37GB - 8.5GB) – Full disc image, including all padding and update partitions.
- WBFS (0.1GB - 4.37GB) – Removes padding but can break partition alignment.
- Nkit (0.2GB - 4.0GB) – Intelligently compresses redundant data while preserving partition structure.
The magic of Nkit 1.4 lies in its handling of Wii Partitions. A Wii disc contains multiple partitions: Download Nkit 1.4 Wii Partitions
- Update Partition – Contains system menu updates (often unwanted).
- Game Partition – The actual game data.
- Copy Partition – A redundant copy of the game partition used for verification.
Nkit can strip the update and copy partitions entirely, or compress them without breaking the game's ability to run on real hardware via USB loaders (like USB Loader GX) or emulators (Dolphin).
