Emule Kad Server List

Mastering eMule: The Ultimate Guide to KAD Networks and Server Lists in 2024-2025

Manually Downloading nodes.dat

If your eMule refuses to connect to those, you need a fresh nodes.dat file.

  1. Download the latest nodes.dat from: https://upd.emule-security.org/nodes.dat
  2. Place this file into your eMule Config folder (usually C:\Program Files\eMule\Config).
  3. Restart eMule.

Pro Tip: If your KAD icon is still yellow, right-click the KAD icon in the bottom right and select "Bootstrap from Server." This instantly feeds the KAD network the IPs of users connected to the server list you just added. emule kad server list

What is an eMule Server List?

An eMule server is a central hub. You connect your client to a server, and that server tells you where other users (clients) are located. Mastering eMule: The Ultimate Guide to KAD Networks

  • Pros: Fast initial connection; good for finding rare, old files.
  • Cons: Servers are run by volunteers. They get shut down by authorities (like the famous Razorback 2.0 shutdown) or simply go offline when the owner gets bored.

1. The "LowID" Nightmare

If your globe icon has a yellow/red arrow or a small dot, you have a "LowID." This means you are firewalled. Download the latest nodes

  • Symptoms: You can connect, but nobody can connect to you. Downloads are slow.
  • Fix: You must forward TCP port 4662 and UDP port 4672 in your router settings. If you cannot, use a VPN that allows port forwarding (e.g., AirVPN, ProtonVPN).

The Core Problem

KAD (Kademlia) is serverless.
Unlike the ed2k server network, KAD is a distributed hash table (DHT) – no central servers. You cannot download a “KAD server list” because there are no KAD servers.

What does exist for KAD:

  • Bootstrap nodes (initial contact points).
  • nodes.dat – a file containing IPs/ports of other KAD clients.

So if a website offers a “KAD server list,” it’s either:

  1. Confusing ed2k servers with KAD, or
  2. Providing a nodes.dat file (misnamed), or
  3. A scam / outdated link farm.
