Discover FilmVision II — a compact, powerful DaVinci Resolve PowerGrade LUT pack crafted for filmmakers who want cinematic color with minimal effort. FilmVision-II-Davinci-Powergrade LUT.rar includes a curated set of PowerGrades for quick application across different lighting conditions and camera profiles.
How to Use the "FilmVision-II" Look Effectively
Installing the PowerGrade is one thing; mastering its controls is another. Here is a typical node structure you will find inside this package and how to tweak it for your specific camera.
Node 1: CST (Color Space Transform) – Input: Your camera’s log space. Output: Davinci Wide Gamut. Do not change this unless you shot on a different log profile. Node 2: Pre-Grade – Use this for Exposure and White Balance. Adjust the Offset wheel here, not on your primary wheels. Node 3: FilmVision-II LUT – The .cube file sits here. By keeping it isolated, you can change the strength (Key Output) of the LUT from 0% to 100%. Node 4: Contrast/Pivot – After the LUT, the highlights might be too bright. Use the Contrast and Pivot sliders (under the Log wheels or Curves) to bring back shoulder detail. Node 5: Grain & Texture – Usually locked. Adjust the "Grain Size" slider if shooting in 4K vs 1080p. Smaller size for 4K (1.0), larger for HD (1.5).
Advanced Tips: Modifying the PowerGrade for Better Results
The beauty of the PowerGrade format is its hackability. Here is how to make the FilmVision-II look distinctively yours:
For Low-Light Shooters (Sony A7S III / FX6): Inside the PowerGrade, add a node before the LUT. Use the "Noise Reduction" palette. Set chroma NR to 50 and temporal NR to 2 frames. This cleans up the shadows before the LUT emphasizes them. FilmVision-II-Davinci-Powergrade LUT.rar
For Rec.709 (Non-Log) Footage: You cannot use the standard LUT. Instead, delete the "CST" node and the "LUT" node. Replace them with a "Color Space Transform" converting Rec.709 to Rec.709 with a "Film Look" curve. Then, manually eye-match the "Vision" contrast.
For an Anamorphic Bokeh Effect: Add an "Elliptical" Window on the final node. Invert it (dark outside), feather it to 50, and set the opacity to 15%. This simulates the natural vignette of old anamorphic lenses, pairing perfectly with FilmVision's halation.
Step 3: Importing the PowerGrade
To use the interactive node tree:
- Open the Color Page.
- Right-click in the empty node area (or go to the
Gallerypanel). - Click

Common Issues and Troubleshooting
Since you are dealing with a compressed archive (FilmVision-II-Davinci-Powergrade LUT.rar), issues may arise. Here is the fix for the top 3 complaints:
Issue A: "The colors look radioactive/neon."
- Cause: You applied the LUT to Rec.709 footage, not Log footage.
- Fix: Ensure your clip settings are set to your camera's specific Log profile (e.g., Blackmagic Design Film Gen 5).
Issue B: "The .rar file is corrupted."
- Cause: Incomplete download or wrong extraction tool.
- Fix: Redownload the file. Use 7-Zip (Windows) or Keka (Mac). The native Mac Archive Utility often fails on non-standard RAR files.
Issue C: "The PowerGrade is missing the grain node."
- Cause: You are using DaVinci Resolve Free, not Studio. The Free version disables the Film Grain plugin.
- Fix: Manually add an
Analog Damageeffect (Resolve 18+) or use the built-in "Grain" OFX, manually matching the "FilmVision" texture.
