Why "User ID and Key ID" Still Matters in 2025

Arobas Music has since released Guitar Pro 7 and Guitar Pro 8. They no longer sell GP6 licenses. The official activation servers for GP6 were shut down in late 2021. That means even if you have a legitimate User ID and Key ID from a decade ago, the online verification step fails.

Unlike modern SaaS products, GP6 licenses are transferable. You can buy a used license from a musician on forums (like SevenString or The Gear Page). They will transfer the User ID to you.
