7. Interactive mechanics (if game/installation)
- Choice consequences: Small acts (sharing food, spreading a message) produce slow, observable systemic changes.
- Perception shift: Toggle between insect sensory modalities (pheromone trails, vibration) and human sight.
- Resource management: Scarcity forces ethical dilemmas; hoarding vs. collective provisioning.
- Visibility meter: Higher visibility (observer attention) changes behavior; anonymity enables resistance.
Phase 2: The Counter-Attack
- The mantis will charge. Stand behind a vertical pebble.
- When it smashes the pebble, it gets its claw stuck for 3 seconds.
- Run up its arm. Stab the joint between the thorax and head using the Mandible Claws.
- Result: You blind one of its compound eyes. The mantis becomes erratic and flees into the next zone. It will return later.
Do not pursue immediately. Loot the arena for a "Spool of Human Thread" (a piece of dental floss). This is vital for the True Ending.

- Step on cooled tile to reveal hidden gear; use gear to power elevator.
-

1. Entry & First Steps
- Enter the area from the Sketchbook.
- Walk forward. You will see a large blue painting of a woman in a dress. This is the "Lady in Blue".
- Warning: Do not touch the Lady in Blue or talk to her repeatedly. She will chase you. If she catches you, it results in a "Game Over."
- Navigate around her and head towards the door at the top of the room.
Phase 1: Stalking
- Arena: A flat rock littered with empty isopod shells.
- Strategy: Do not fight. You are too small. The mantis is blind to things that don't move.
- Action: Freeze when it looks at you. Move only when it turns its head. Your goal is to reach the Dead Cricket in the center of the arena.
- Critical Item: The cricket’s body contains Mandible Claws. Use your sharpened twig (crafted earlier: twig + sharp rock) to cut off the cricket’s mandibles. You now have two small scythes.
General Tips & Final Checklist
Before you finish this Insect Prison walkthrough, keep these pro-tips in mind:
- Save the Fireflies: Every firefly you release unlocks a checkpoint. There are 12 in total. You need at least 8 for the final escape sequence to be possible.
- Water Management: You dehydrate every 15 minutes. Use the dewdrops on the fern leaves. Do not drink the "puddle" near the latrine—it gives you a parasitic infection that slows your movement by 40%.
- Crafting Priorities:
- Essential: Duct Tape (non-lethal takedowns).
- Essential: Mirror Shard (Spider boss).
- Optional: Super Glue + Antennae (lets you control a patrolling ant for 30 seconds).
- Difficulty Setting: If you are playing on "Hard Mode," the Mantis Warden has a Phase 4 where he summons a swarm of aphids. Use the Ladybug Grenade (combine a dead ladybug with a firecracker seed).
