Step 1: Disable Self-Defense. Open Kaspersky Total Security. Go to Settings -> General. Uncheck the box labeled "Enable Self-Defense." Click "Save." This allows us to modify the program's internal files.
Step 2: Exit the Application. Right-click the Kaspersky icon in the system tray and select "Exit." Confirm that you want to stop all protection components.
Step 3: Remove the License Key (Registry Cleanup).
Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\KasperskyLab\LicStorage
Delete the folder or keys found here.
Next, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\SPC
Delete the "Certificates" subkey related to Kaspersky (look for a long alphanumeric string associated with Kaspersky Lab).
Step 4: The “Trial Timer” Registry Edit (2024 Exclusive).
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\KasperskyLab\AVP21.9\Settings
(Note: The version number may be 21.15 or 21.16 in 2024).
Look for a DWORD value named TrialActivateionPeriod or RemainingTrialDays.
Double-click it and change the value to 30 (Decimal).
Step 5: Delete Hidden Activation Files.
Open File Explorer. Ensure "Hidden items" is checked in the View menu.
Delete the contents of:
C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP21.9\Data\
Specifically, look for a file named activation.xml or license.key. Delete them.
Step 6: Reboot and Re-activate. Restart your computer. Do not open your browser yet. Once rebooted, launch Kaspersky Total Security. Go to License -> Activate Trial Version. Enter any email address (does not need to be unique). Wait 10 seconds. Kaspersky will contact the activation server. If the registry keys were deleted properly, the server will see it as a new installation and grant a fresh 30-day trial.
