- A house number (custom marking for a specific OEM like a power supply or car audio manufacturer).
- A proprietary part from a Chinese or Taiwanese brand (e.g., MikroElektronika, Master Instrument, or a generic brand).
- A misread marking (common with SOT-23 packages where "M3966" might be a date/batch code).
However, after cross-referencing thousands of MOSFET datasheets, the closest verified match based on typical "M" series and 66V/60V logic-level parts is not M3966M, but rather a very similar part used in DC-DC converters and low-side switching.
