2. Preserve evidence (URL, timestamp, commit SHA) but avoid downloading secrets unnecessarily.
3. Report to repository owner via private channel (issue or maintainers’ contact).
4. If the repo is public and owner is unresponsive, use GitHub’s secret-scanning/reporting flow to notify GitHub.
5. Notify Maltego (vendor) via their support or abuse channel so they can revoke keys and advise the owner.
6. If you’re a security researcher doing disclosure, follow coordinated disclosure best practices and avoid publishing the secret.
Do not post leaked keys publicly, paste them into online scanners, or include them in research publications.
