3. MSDN / Visual Studio Subscriptions
If you are a developer, your Visual Studio Professional or Enterprise subscription includes access to the Microsoft Action Pack archive, where the official 64-bit ISO (SW_DVD5_Office_Professional_Plus_2013w_SP1_64Bit_English_MLF_X19-35955.ISO) is still downloadable for development purposes. microsoft office professional plus 2013 64 bit exclusive
The Legacy of the 2013 Suite
Today, Microsoft has moved on to Microsoft 365, a subscription-based model that is always up to date. However, Office Professional Plus 2013 retains a loyal user base.
For users who prefer a "perpetual license" (paying once and owning the software forever) over a subscription, the 2013 Professional Plus suite remains a robust option. Its 64-bit capability ensures it is still viable for modern hardware, capable of handling heavy data loads that would choke its 32-bit predecessors. Security and updates
- Patches and updates: Keep Office updated with security patches (via WSUS, Windows Update, or centralized patch management).
- Macro security: Use Group Policy to restrict macros, enable protected view, and configure Trusted Locations.
- Data protection: Integrate with BitLocker, Windows Defender, and enterprise DLP where available.
⚙️ The 64-Bit Version – Why “Exclusive”?
Microsoft offered both 32-bit and 64-bit installers for Office 2013. However, the default and recommended installation for most users (even on 64-bit Windows) was the 32-bit version.
Installation Guide: Ensuring a True 64-bit Setup
Once you have the ISO, follow these steps to ensure you don't accidentally install the 32-bit version: Patches and updates: Keep Office updated with security
- Check your OS: Open System Information. Ensure "System Type" says x64-based PC.
- Uninstall old Office: If you have a 32-bit version of Office (any version), you must remove it. They cannot coexist.
- Mount the ISO: Right-click the downloaded ISO > Mount.
- Run as Admin: Navigate to the mounted drive and run
setup.exe. - Select architecture: Choose "64-bit." (If the installer is "exclusive," there won't be a choice—it will default to 64).
- Activation: Enter your MAK or KMS key.
Troubleshooting: If you receive an error saying "You cannot install 64-bit Office because you have 32-bit Access Database Engine installed," you must uninstall that driver first.

4.1. No 32-bit ActiveX Controls
- Legacy OCX controls (e.g., MSCOMCTL.OCX, many third-party accounting controls) do not work in 64-bit Office 2013.
- Impact: Solutions relying on these must be re-architected – an exclusive constraint of the 64-bit branch.
