The Premise
The story follows a lonely, hyperactive, and unnamed pet chameleon (voiced by Johnny Depp). He lives in a terrarium, where he fancies himself a master thespian, putting on plays with his only friends: a dead cockroach, a plastic toy fish, and a headless Barbie doll. However, his life is one of isolation; he has no identity and doesn't know who he really is.

The Legend of Rango
Dirt is a dusty, lawless town suffering from a severe drought. The town’s water supply is stored in a tank controlled by the mayor, Tortoise John (Ned Beatty). The chameleon wanders into the local saloon and, realizing he is in mortal danger from the locals, invents a tough persona on the spot. His lie impresses the locals, particularly a tough desert iguana named Beans (Isla Fisher).
