- What is it? The WBFS (Wii Backup File System) is a file system designed specifically for storing Wii games. A
.wbfsfile is essentially a compressed version of the game disc that removes unused padding data, resulting in a smaller file size (typically around 3.5GB for RE4, compared to a full 4.7GB DVD). - Why use it? It is the standard format for USB Loaders on modded Wii consoles and runs flawlessly on the Dolphin Emulator for PC and Android.
Visuals & Performance
- runs at a stable 480p resolution (16:9 widescreen supported).
- Improved lighting effects over the PS2 version, matching the GameCube's visual fidelity.
- Smooth framerate with almost no screen tearing.
