Method B: The Libraries Tab (Requires .nicnt file – Rare for freebies)

  1. Open Native Access (the Native Instruments hub).
  2. Click "Add a Serial" – but you don't have one for South Step.
  3. Instead, use the "Add Library" button (in older Kontakt versions) or drag the folder onto the Kontakt Libraries tab in Kontakt 7+.
  4. Note: This almost never works for random free downloads.

Before attempting to install South Step, ensure you have the following software installed on your computer. Without these, the library files (which usually come as .nki or .wav files) will not work.

  3. Inside the Kontakt window, look at the top menu bar and click Files.
  4. Navigate to the folder where you extracted South Step.
  5. Look for the instrument file (usually ends in .nki).
