Stranded Deep 4 Player Mod

From Isolation to Cooperation: Reimagining Stranded Deep Through a 4-Player Mod

The Ugly (Major Limitations)

  • No Story Progression - The mod often breaks the final boss triggers. You may defeat the eel, but the ending cutscene never plays.
  • Inventory Crashes - Opening a crate while another player opens the same crate has a 30% crash rate (anecdotal, but common on mod forums).
  • No Crossplay - PC only. Console players are excluded entirely.

The Bad – Where It Hurts

1. Installation & Stability
The mod is not plug‑and‑play. You’ll need to downgrade your game to a specific version (often 0.90 or earlier) because the mod lags behind official updates. Expect crashes, desyncs, and “ghost” items that only one player can see. A dedicated host with a strong PC is mandatory.

2. Janky Multiplayer Mechanics

  • Inventory desync: You see a coconut, your friend sees nothing.
  • Raft physics: One player steers; others may slide off or clip through.
  • Sleeping: All four must sleep at once – or no one sleeps.
  • Save corruption: Frequent manual backups are required.

3. Missing Official Features
The mod breaks some late-game content. Story progression (the aircraft carrier, the final escape) can glitch out, forcing you to reset. Some DLC items don’t sync. stranded deep 4 player mod

4. No Matchmaking
You need friends with the same mod version, same game version, and patience to troubleshoot. Randoms are impossible to play with reliably. No Story Progression - The mod often breaks

✅ Works Well (Reliably Functional)

  • Base building (foundations, walls, roofs)
  • Crafting and inventory management
  • Hunting small animals (crabs, fish, birds)
  • Sailing rafts (though desync can occur)
  • Sleeping to pass time (all players must sleep simultaneously)
