To download and install WireXpert software (typically for the WireXpert cable certifier from Softing/IDEAL Networks), follow these steps:
Phase 2: Downloading the Software
The software is officially hosted by Softing. There are two ways to get the latest version.
Pre‑download checklist
- Confirm your tester model is supported by the current WireXpert version.
- Back up any existing test databases or local project folders.
- Ensure Windows updates and drivers are current, and antivirus allows installer execution.
Phase 5: Configuration & Activation
- Launch the Software: Open the Wirexpert software from your Desktop icon or Start Menu.
- Connect: The software should automatically detect the connected hardware. You will see the device serial number appear in the status bar or connection menu.
- Firmware Update (Crucial):
- If this is a new device, the software may prompt you to update the Firmware on the handheld unit to match the PC software version.
- Click "Update." Do not unplug the device during this process.
- Licensing:
- Wirexpert usually comes with a license dongle or a license file. If the software asks for a license, enter the key provided with your purchase documentation.
Phase 3: Installation Process

Downloadsfolder. - Extract (If Zipped): If the file ends in
.zip, right-click it and select Extract All. Open the extracted folder. - Run Installer: Double-click the

- Setup Wizard:

- Finish: Once the progress bar completes, check the box that says "Launch Wirexpert" and click Finish.
3. Installation Steps
Post‑install steps
- Connect your WireXpert tester via USB and power it on.
- Open WireXpert; the software should detect the tester. If not:
- Check Device Manager for driver status.
- Reinstall drivers via the installer or device driver update.
- From the software menu, check for available firmware updates for your tester and apply them if recommended.
- Import an existing test database or create a new project folder.
- Run a sample import of a test file from the tester to verify file transfer and result rendering.
Part 9: Uninstalling and Reinstalling Cleanly
If you need to perform a fresh wirexpert software download install due to corruption:

Uninstall via Windows:
- Go to
Settings→Apps→Installed Apps. - Find “WireXpert Manager” → Uninstall.
- Also uninstall “Softing USB Drivers”.

Clean Registry (Advanced Users Only):
- Run
regedit. - Delete
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softing\WireXpert(if present).
- Run

Delete Residual Files:
C:\ProgramData\Softing\WireXpertC:\Users\[YourName]\Documents\WireXpert Projects
