Problem 4: USB Drive Not Showing on Network
- Fix:
- Ensure the drive is formatted as FAT32 or NTFS (exFAT often fails).
- Go to Application > USB Storage > Enable Samba.
- Access via
\\192.168.1.1(Windows) orsmb://192.168.1.1(Mac).
How to Set Up Port Forwarding (For Gaming or CCTV)
The ZTE F670 has a built-in firewall (NAT). To allow external access to a game server, webcam, or NAS, you must forward ports.
- Go to Application > Port Forwarding (or Advanced > NAT > Virtual Server).
- Click Add or Create New.
- Fill in:
- Service Name: e.g., “Minecraft” (user-defined).
- Protocol: TCP, UDP, or Both (check your app’s requirement).
- WAN Port: External port (e.g.,
25565). - LAN Port: Internal port (usually same as WAN port).
- LAN IP Address: The static IP of your device (e.g.,
192.168.1.50).
- Save and reboot.
8. Factory Reset – The Nuclear Option
If everything fails, a factory reset restores all settings (including passwords). zte f670 manual
Steps:
- Keep the device powered on.
- Use a paperclip to press and hold the RESET pinhole (usually near the USB port).
- Hold for 10–15 seconds until all LEDs blink rapidly.
- Release – the F670 will reboot (takes 3–5 minutes).
After reset:
- IP = 192.168.1.1
- Login = admin/admin (or Zte521)
- All your custom Wi-Fi and port forwarding are gone.
2. Hardware and Interfaces
- Optical: SC/APC or SC/UPC single-fiber or dual-fiber GPON port (typical wavelength 1490nm/1310nm).
- Ethernet: 4× Gigabit RJ‑45 LAN ports (LAN1–LAN4); one often configurable as WAN.
- LAN/WAN: Some firmware variants allow VLAN tagging and LAN/WAN mode switching.
- USB: 1× USB 2.0 (for storage/printer sharing on some builds).
- POTS: 2× RJ‑11 ports for VoIP/analog telephony (FXS).
- Wi‑Fi: Dual-band (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz) with multiple SSIDs/guest SSID support on recent firmware.
- Indicators: Power, PON, LOS, LAN, WLAN, TEL status LEDs.
- Power: 12V DC adapter typical; may include battery backup in some models.
4. Initial Setup and Access
- Connect fiber cable to the PON port (observe correct connector type and APC/UPC orientation).
- Connect LAN1 to your PC for initial configuration (use a static IP in 192.168.1.x if needed).
- Power on and wait for PON LED to stabilize (registration with OLT required).
- Access web GUI: typically at 192.168.1.1 (default) via HTTP/HTTPS; default credentials often admin/admin or user/user — change immediately.
- If web GUI unavailable, use TR-069 or vendor management systems (OLT side).
8. Security Best Practices (Lock Down Your Gateway)
A surprising number of ZTE F670 units are left with default passwords. Here’s a quick security checklist: Publication: ZTE F670 Manual — Beyond the Basics
- Disable WPS – Go to WLAN > WPS Settings > Disable. WPS has known brute-force vulnerabilities.
- Disable remote management – Go to Management > Access Control > Set “WAN Access” to Disable. This prevents anyone from logging into your router from the internet.
- Update firmware – Go to Management > Firmware Upgrade. If no update shows, don’t manually upload unless your ISP provides a file – wrong firmware bricks the device.
- Hide SSID (optional) – Under WLAN > SSID Settings, uncheck “Broadcast SSID”. This hides your network from casual scans (but determined hackers can still find it).
Front/Rear Panel Ports:
- Power (12V DC): Connect the provided adapter.
- Power On/Off Button: Rocker or push button.
- PON/LOS LED: Critical for fiber connection.
- LAN1–LAN4: Yellow or grey RJ45 jacks.
- TEL1/TEL2: RJ11 phone jacks.
- USB: For external storage or a 4G dongle (on supported firmware).
- Reset (Pinhole): Recessed button for factory reset.
- WPS/Wi-Fi Button: Press to turn Wi-Fi on/off; hold to activate WPS.
